The difference

Forms Madrid does not charge for club placement.

No placement fee, commission or intermediary charge is ever added to a family's account. Every fee in your quote pays for a service the program delivers directly.

The Method

How players actually learn

Forms Madrid trains under the Forms Academy Methodology, a 33-chapter manual written by founder Ron Hogsett that governs how every session is designed, sequenced and measured. Four of its governing ideas:

01

Technique before tactics is a sequence, not a slogan

Tactical instruction layered onto a player who is still constructing the ball overloads working memory: the geometry gets processed, the first touch does not. Forms sessions build technical capacity first, so tactical work lands on actions the player can actually execute.

02

Risk is trainable

R = D / T

Perceived risk on the ball is difficulty divided by technical capacity. Most coaching lowers the difficulty by asking for the safe pass. Forms raises technical capacity instead, so the same action stops feeling risky at all.

03

Fear comes out of the decision

Young players are asked to dribble and try the skills they have, with dispossession treated as the cost of learning rather than a failure. A player who fears the coach's reaction after a lost ball passes earlier every time, and stops developing.

04

Measurement reads the contrast, not the average

FORMAX scores five domains independently, from coordination and feel for the ball to functional application. No average is taken: the profile is read for the contrast between domains, and the weakest domain sets the next block of work.

Illustrative profile, scored 1 to 10 by domain. The read is the contrast between domains, not the average: this profile says technical range is the bottleneck in an otherwise well-built player, so expanding it becomes the next block of work.

Reading the profile

FORMAX scores five domains independently, from coordination and feel for the ball to functional application, the game-intelligence domain, on a 1 to 10 scale. Each evaluation also records the technical layer it was conducted at, from L1 Foundational Precision to L5 Expressive Synthesis, and how the technique holds under fatigue. The profile is never reduced to one number: it is read for the contrast between domains, and the weakest domain sets the next block of work.

The founder

Forms Madrid is led by Ron Hogsett, Managing Director of Forms Academy and Forms Madrid and author of the Forms Academy Methodology Manual. A London School of Economics postgraduate, he traded a corporate finance career for a life in football and has spent it building evidence-based, neuroscience-informed systems for developing young players, including FORMAX, the assessment platform used across Forms programs. He writes publicly on player development; the full system lives in the Manual, and the thinking is open.

  • You Cannot Retrofit a First TouchWhy technical capacity has to be built before tactical complexity, and why it cannot be added later.
  • Technical Cognitive CostEvery touch costs attention until it is automatic. Automaticity is what frees a player to read the game.
  • What Spain KnowsHow Spain rebuilt its game on functionally technical players, and what that means for everyone else.

Pathways

One program, four pathways

Every pathway is quoted individually, so families pay only for the services their player uses.

Full season · September to June

Full Residency

Room, board, academics through Forms Academy, daily training and 24/7 supervision. The complete Madrid experience for players relocating for the season.

Experience Week · Term Stay

Short-Term Stays

A structured taste of the full program. Dates for each stay are confirmed in the enrollment agreement.

For players living in Madrid

Day and Training

Group training from 10:00 to 12:00, Monday to Friday, for players already living in Madrid, with optional academic support. No housing.

Football only

Training Bundle

Football training only: no academics, residency, meals or transport. Adidas kit optional.

The residency begins at grade 7. Training, weekday mornings and Sunday tecnificación, is open from first-year Benjamín (born 2018) upward. Residency and Day pathways that include academics require concurrent enrollment in Forms Academy Residency.

Madrid training

Two ways to train

A weekday block from 10:00 to 12:00, Monday to Friday, and a Sunday morning tecnificación session for players who are in school during the week. Group sessions built on the Forms Methodology, with no residency place required, booked online with every price shown before you pay.

Weekday block

10:00 to 12:00, Monday to Friday

Group sessions five days a week at the Toni Kroos Academy facilities at Club Encinas de Boadilla, the same sessions the residency players take, never more than 20 players. Open from first-year Benjamín (born 2018) upward. Because the block sits inside the school day, it suits families travelling to Madrid and players whose schedule allows it.

Sunday mornings

Sunday morning tecnificación

Technique-first work for players who are in school Monday to Friday: the Forms Methodology applied to the individual player, in a group, one morning a week. In Pozuelo, 9:00 to 11:00, open from first-year Benjamín (born 2018) upward. Book one Sunday or four online.

International players

From one week

Families travelling to Madrid book a week or more; four weeks in a row are charged at the monthly rate. Full board and guardianship for players travelling alone, and evening training with a Spanish club, are available on request.

Madrid-based players

Single mornings, and a month of honest advice

Madrid families can book single mornings. We recommend a month anyway, because technical change is a training effect and it does not show up in a week.

Club neutral

Keep the club you have

Training with Forms Madrid creates no obligation to any club, here or at home, and no portion of the fee relates to placement or representation.

The Program

Three pillars, one standard

Forms Madrid runs on the same expectations as Forms Academy Residency in the United States: serious training, real school and a household that is actually supervised.

Football

The Forms Methodology, daily

Daily sessions built on the Forms Methodology, the same curriculum that anchors Forms Academy Residency in the United States, adapted to the rhythm of Spanish football. Development is measured through FORMAX, Forms Academy's player assessment system.

Academics

Accredited through Forms Academy

Schoolwork is accredited through Forms Academy and delivered in Madrid with local academic support. Madrid runs on the same Cognia-accredited program as Forms Academy Residency in the United States, so a player moves between the two on one transcript: no transfers, no lost credits, no gaps. Players take live, in-person Spanish classes twice a week, and academic progress is measured with MAP testing on the same cadence as the US campus.

Forms Academy Residency crest Cognia accreditation seal: NCA CASI, NWAC, SACS CASI
Mentorship and guardianship

Named adults, daily structure

Every player is supervised by named adults with a structured daily routine and a set communication cadence with families. Parents know who is responsible and hear from the program on a schedule.

Residence

Daily life, properly run

Housing

Players live in a supervised residence in Alcobendas with private rooms and private bathrooms, named adults on site, 24/7 supervision and security, and a daily routine with quiet hours built around training and school.

Meals

Home-cooked, healthy meals at the residence, planned around training days.

Transport

Private transport moves players between the residence, school and training. No public-transit guesswork, no gaps in supervision.

Facilities

A pool, a padel and futsal court, a full gym, a yoga studio, a cinema room and shared common space give players room to recover, socialize and put in extra focused work.

A sample weekday

  • Breakfast at the residence, then football training from 10:00 to 12:00 at the Toni Kroos Academy facilities at Club Encinas de Boadilla.
  • Academics: Forms Academy coursework with local academic support.
  • Home-cooked lunch and rest at the residence.
  • Training with the player's Spanish club, then dinner at the residence and time to study, recover or socialize.

Exact schedules vary by pathway, term and the Madrid football calendar.

Fit

Who this is not for

Sixteen residency places a year, and admission runs through evaluation. Most conversations end without an enrollment, so it is fairer to say plainly who the program does not suit.

  • Players below the Benjamín age group.Training starts at first-year Benjamín (born 2018). The residency begins at grade 7.
  • Families who want a guaranteed route into a Spanish club.Club opportunity depends on the player's level and the receiving club's decision. We make introductions, we promise no outcome, and we never charge for it.
  • Players looking for a training holiday.Days are structured, supervised and demanding, and on pathways that include academics the school block is not optional.
  • Families who measure progress by weekend results. The methodology asks players to keep the ball under pressure and accept the dispossessions that follow. In the early stages that can cost matches, and we will not coach against a player's development to protect a scoreline.

Fees and pricing

What your fees cover, and what they do not

Forms Madrid does not charge for club placement. Every fee in your quote pays for a service the program delivers directly: football training and performance work, accredited academics through Forms Academy, housing, meals, transport, guardianship and daily supervision. Introductions to Spanish clubs are part of how the program operates. They are not a product we sell, and no placement fee, commission or intermediary charge is ever added to a family's account.

Spanish football, without a broker

Players train inside the Madrid club ecosystem as part of the program, and introductions to Spanish clubs happen in the ordinary course of that work. Whether a club opportunity follows depends on the player's level and the receiving club's decision: Forms Madrid is club neutral and names no destination club.

How a quote is built

Every family receives an itemized quote in euros before any commitment. Full Residency is billed across the season as a reserved place. Day services are monthly and modular, so the quote reflects exactly the services your player uses. Payment is by Stripe, JotForm or SEPA transfer.

“Accreditation matters because it travels with the player. A Forms student in Madrid is the same student in Texas. One institution, one transcript, one standard. That is the entire premise.”

FAQ

Asked, and answered

Do you charge a fee to place my player with a Spanish club?

No. Fees cover training, academics, living costs and guardianship. Club integration is included in the program and carries no separate charge.

Is Forms Madrid a football academy?

Forms Madrid is a football development residency rather than a conventional academy. A typical Madrid football academy sells training sessions. Forms Madrid runs a complete developmental environment: methodology-driven training, accredited schooling, supervised residence and club integration, built for players entering grades 7 to 12.

Who is eligible?

The residency runs from grade 7 through grade 12. Training is open from first-year Benjamín upward (players born in 2018 or earlier), both the weekday mornings and Sunday tecnificación.

How many players do you take?

Sixteen residency places a year. Training pathways are separate and are not capped at that number. Admission runs through evaluation, so most conversations end in advice rather than an enrollment.

Is enrollment in Forms Academy required?

Any pathway that includes academics requires concurrent enrollment in Forms Academy Residency, because schooling is delivered through Forms Academy. The Training Bundle does not include academics and carries no academic enrollment requirement.

Can Texas families use TEFA funds?

Forms Madrid is Forms Academy's study-abroad option, and Forms Academy is an approved Texas Education Freedom Account vendor. Eligible Texas families apply TEFA funds to their Forms Academy enrollment, and TEFA awards cover a portion of tuition. Details are confirmed during the enrollment conversation.

What does a typical week look like?

Weekday mornings are for football training at the Toni Kroos Academy facilities at Club Encinas de Boadilla. Academics follow at midday, with home-cooked lunch and rest at the residence in the afternoon, and evenings bring training with the player's Spanish club, then dinner, study or downtime. Private transport covers every move, and weekends follow the Madrid football calendar.

How are meals handled?

Players eat home-cooked, healthy meals at the residence, planned around training days.

Can my player keep his current US club?

Yes. Forms Madrid is club neutral, in Spain and at home. Enrollment creates no obligation to any club.

Do you train players who are in school during the week?

Yes. Forms Madrid runs a tecnificación session on Sunday mornings in Pozuelo, 9:00 to 11:00, for players who cannot attend the weekday block, booked online at formsmadrid.com/train. The weekday block runs 10:00 to 12:00, Monday to Friday.

Can my player train with Forms without joining the residency?

Yes. Training runs 10:00 to 12:00, Monday to Friday, in groups of no more than 20, and is open from first-year Benjamín (born 2018) upward without a residency place. Families travelling to Madrid book from one week; Madrid families can book single mornings, though a month is what we recommend. Every price is shown on the booking page at formsmadrid.com/train before you pay.

What is the season length?

The Full Residency season runs September to June. Exact dates for every pathway, including short-term stays, are confirmed in the enrollment agreement.
